I find myself... Drawn by the Spirit
...on a path with Him, expressing life as I experience it. Lissy and Ezra are my grandchildren. in the photograph to the right, which I enhanced by painting outside the lines. Lissy is a thinker, even at age 2 she has gone beyond her developmental charts. Ezra is very focused (a guy thing?). The photograph seemed very appropriate - Lissy looking up to the heavens and Ezra going directly to the path.
At times it's difficult for me to separate a description of myself as an artist from a description of who I am with Him. The name Drawn by the Spirit occurred to me while sitting during a church service where my pastor's son was being baptized. The more I think about the difficulty in separating the descriptions, the more I realize these aspects of myself are indivisible.
My life experiences involving others and myself have been so intense and varied, that I feel led to believe they were intentional. As the Bible states: "Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything." James 1:2-4 New Living Translation. God has seen fit to test us. Our responsibility then is to use the talents we've been given for His purposes.
While drawing, I listen to Contemporary Christian music. I have noticed their music enhances my paintings. They have an added influence, as if being drawn into the painting. Which is why I started painting their portraits and having them sign them. Perhaps like an encouraging word to them, as we all need to hear from time to time.
I hope you will enjoy looking at my paintings.Remember, a little of the artist goes
into every work of art... so be respectful in your thoughts or comments.
